The sites below give some information about selected aspects of forests and forestry in Cyprus. They are aimed to give a view of complexity of forest ecosystems and its managment, forest resources in Cyprus biodiversity and nature protection.
![]() | FOREST CHARACTERISTIC AND FOREST TYPES Cyprus has an extreme Mediterranean climate. It has a hot, long, dry summer and a variable warm winter. The mean annual temperature is 17.8° C and the relative humidity is 60 %. The mean annual rainfall is about 500 mm. |

![]() | FORMS OF NATURE PROTECTION SUCH AS NATIONAL PARKS AND NATURE 2000 SITES Cyprus, as the rest of the Mediterranean countries, is characterized by a large number of plant species that have a restricted distribution and a high rate of endemism. Endemics are the plants found in a country or region or place only and no where else in the world.
